10 Secrets To Being Insanely Successful

Everyone has within them the desire and the means to make life a masterpiece, it maybe hidden in the recesses of their soul or buried amongst the pain of living an existence but it is there waiting to be discovered. The challenge for a lot of people is that they prefer security over the unknown and would rather be bored to death turning up each day to a job they hate and working with people they quite often dislike. The sad truth is that most people go to their grave without their song ever being sung.10 Secrets To Being Insanely Successful

The reality is that you can create a life you dream and love if you have the courage to make some key decisions and take some initial steps on that journey.

We also live  in a world where you have the technology and the tools that can accelerate success by spreading your story and cause around the planet on the World Wide Web.

If you want to be “remarkably average” then I would suggest you stop reading right now, if you still would like to consider being remarkable and dream of world domination then read on.

So where does the fire start?

1. Relentless Passion

This is where you need to start, if you don’t have this as the foundation for your cause then you may as well stay in bed and pull down the blinds. You will need to be able to give it your all despite friends, family and critics telling you that it is impossible, or giving you multiple reasons why you will fail. The passion needs to be consuming and powerful enough for you to overcome obstacles and persist when all seems doom and gloom.

2. A Very Specific Goal

What is it that you want to achieve you need to be very clear on what the journey will look like. The goal needs to be specific and have a certain time attached.

3. Compelling Story

A great story provides a reason for other to believe in you and your mission and can see that you are real and authentic . It also makes other people believe in your compelling story because they can see some of themselves  in your story.

4. Expert Status In Skills That Help Others

You need to provide skills that help and add value to others. If  your passion develops you into an expert in something highly specialized that really adds value to the world, then people you help will start looking to you for answers on what made you successful.

5. A Small Tribe

It has been suggested by people such as Seth Godin that you only need a 1,000 fans in your army to support your cause who will buy every product you make, read every book you write and will drive 100 miles to hear you speak. If you want to know about building a tribe you may want to check out “How to Build A Global Tribe Fast With Social Media

6. Friends of Friends

The strength of weak ties not your friends are what provides us with most of the information and opportunities that will help make your journey a success. This was outlined by a sociologist Mark Granovetter in 1973 in an article titled “The Strength Of Weak Ties“. So don’t ignore the opportunities that come your way via Twitter or Facebook that have enabled weak ties to accelerate on the social web.

7. Enough Money

You only need enough money, nor more and no less to achieve you goal. Work out how much you need and then work out how to get it.

8. Enough Time

You might be able to achieve this by working after hours when you have finished your day job. It may mean having to work on your cause once the kids have gone to bed and work to 2.00am or it may mean getting up at 4.30am. You need to work out a way to find the time that will help you on your path to being remarkable and it may mean giving up the day job.

This will come easy if you have the relentless passion but it will mean that you can’t keep hitting the snooze button at 4.30am.

10. A Pulpit

You will need a pulpit that will provide you with a platform to spread your message and people can keep coming back to hear your message and continue to be inspired. A blog is a great means for you to do that and also provides the technology and ease of use to capture emails and display your passion with online videos that showcase your expertise and compelling story.

  • Thanks for the inspiring and educational words. I am currently in the midst of starting up my wedding photography company, Red Photo. I was glad to see that I have been following many of the things that are on your list. I just need to be a little patient and see it through. Great advice, as always.

  • Appreciate the encouraging words and common sense!

  • I really enjoyed reading this article and agree thoroughly with your secrets to being successful. I think that anyone who genuinely followed this formula would get results. I have recently been involved in setting up a website whose aim is to inspire people to be more successful and would love to know what you thought of it. It can be found at http://www.inspirationzone.co.uk.

  • Hi Jeff,
A very encouraging list. Passion is something that a lot of people don’t have, it reflects in their business, whether it’s a blog, website or offline business.
There is too much get rich quick these days, people miss the point completely.
When people ask me about Blogging, I tell them the hours I put in, especially at the start, they take a step back and say “It’s like a job”. Well yes, it requires work, dedication and passion.
Take traffic generation, people try for a few days, give up because they only get 20 visitors, then brand every thing out there as a scam. If you stick with it, every day, those 20 visitors will become 2000. And so on.

    Thanks for a great article.

  • I love this Jeff. Thank you.

  • Awesome and inspiring!!! Some of these secrets I am abiding by them. Though in paid employment, I am about to make that move but need to get it right in areas I fall short i.e strength in weak ties. Improve my network which in turns helps my networth. And that’s why I subscribe to your blog for mentoring. I hope to read more of this.

  • I’d also add, know when to get out. If Microsoft or Google wants to buy you, remember they can throw 300 developers on something and reverse engineer it. Sell!

  • Very true, especially when you got a clear, specific goal in mind and you recognize the power of word of mouth, things get much easier. Of course success is still a long way, but the first steps are what make or destroy any entrepreneurial act. If you start good, you can fail along the road, or succeed. But if you start badly, you got very few hopes left.

  • Thanks Jeff. Your articles are always so insightful and inspiring. My dreams are coming true so quickly (well that’s the way its like to other people), that I keep adding new dreams now.

    • Hey Brian, just checked out your site.. great concept, and I love the physical design of the site too. I’ll look forward to discovering new music here. Best of luck!

  • Inspiring perspective, thanks Jeff. I think sometimes we forget how far a bit of common sense and practicality will get us.

  • A really good post – I actually picked this up on my Twitterfeed – I think the Universe wanted me to read it, as I am one of those self believers who threw caution to the wind and self published. It’s a rocky road, but what Jeff has written is absolutely true on all fronts and kind of how I am living my life (but while still being an IT professional on the side until fame and fortune as a top 100 author finds me – and not long people – watch this space 🙂 but seriously, thanks Jeff, a good and timely post
xx love and blessing on all,

  • Catherine

I agree that passion is so important. In Every post I try to convey my love of creativity and custom gifts. I also agree about the time one must commit…..don’t be afraid to invest the time.

  • I enjoyed this post…. i think it’s all about vision, setting clear goals and as you said, passion to acheive them. I think when you enter the mindset that these goals WILL be acheived, then it’s just a matter of moving forward and maintaining the momentum. Thanks for this article…

Point 1 – Relentless Passion. This for me is the primary secret to success because without that hunger to succeed, you are never going to get off the first step that will allow you to climb others. Yet another great article Jeff 🙂
