    In fact, it’s so obvious that even I figured out how important a video component is that I recently began providing some video on my own website. (I know it’s pretty rough, but I’m just getting started with video recording and uploading)

Having easily accessible, easily findable video online is crucial.     100% Absolutely. When’s the last time you liked a TV commercial enough to DVR (or even tape it – does anyone still use VHS???) and forward it on to your friends? With online video, as easy as copying/pasting the link.

    The new reality is = Network TV – Newspapers, Magazines on Paper, Radio = all dead, as we knew them. *(I am in partnership with 2 other cats, with nearly 100 years Media experience between us….)

    If people want to watch squirrels, they can, on youtube. Look at how T-Mobile Flash Mob spots have done!

    And I feel there’s incremental value beyond using youtube to help you get found — which it certainly does.

    I think there’s something to be said for showing them [your product or service] in a video, versus telling them with words and pictures.

    I suppose we’ve all been taught that ‘actions speak louder then words’. For example, let’s say you teach swimming — why tell them how great your swimming lessons are when you can show them? Smiling faces, great instructors, clean facility. – Gary

    It depends on your brand. If it is a B2C brand targeting the youth then youtube is definitely a tool you should consider. All my friends search for interesting videos on youtube almost on a daily basis and a proper mix of facebook, twitter and youtube can boost your Social Media Marketing strategy as action (in this case videos) speak louder then words.

    Absolutely! Video is an integral part of being found online … and it’s not just YouTube that you need to be concerned with … taking the time to also post your video on Metacafe and Vimeo helps you get the maximum benefit from your content. I completely agree with Gary Peeples that people like to watch video, so including a video in as much of your content as possible is best – in your press releases, blog posts, articles, etc … It doesn’t have to be an expensive proposition either, use one of those great Flip video cameras (around $150), get good at shooting so you don’t have to edit, upload and voila!

    I don’t think there is any doubt in my mind about using video as an important strategy to being found online.

    For b2b and b2c it’s a fantastic way of reaching our to your target audience. If there is provision made with the video for ratings and comment that can be a very effective tool for conversation with the target audience. To have text online is effective but I feel video is equally important.

    If a picture is worth a thousand words, how much is a moving picture with audio worth?.

    Youtube and other video hosting sites are defiantly currently weighing very heavily on search engine results, brand recognition /engagement etc. Hopefully however the video aspect wont lead to a flood of craptastic marketing infomercials with no real intrinsic value.
