Certainly a timely and relevant post Jeff. I’ll suggest this additional link on Twitter influence to the list: http://www.businessesgrow.com/2010/11/22/get-ready-social-scoring-will-change-your-life/

Check out the comment section. Some pretty interesting takes on the implications of social scoring.

Nice tips. Another factor that helps you increase your influence is a balanced regularity and authoritative content sharing. Since there is so much noise on various social networking websites it becomes very difficult to distinguish uselessness from quality and this is where the regularity can play an important role.

I don’t usually focus much on numbers, but of course you really do need some sort of audience to spread your message. It’s part of the equation, and from my experience, being active in the social media sphere, commenting on other blogs, taking part of the global conversation, they are all good ways to find interesting people, worth following, and hopefully up to follow you as well.
I wanna stress one thing though: build your Followers naturally, avoid shortcuts (like following 1000 people, getting 100-150 followers back and then unfollowing everyone, yeah, many people do that, sigh), ’cause in the end only the “natural” followers really care about your message.

“Twitter facilitates social networking, but it’s not a social networking website” Jeff what does this mean? Can you expand?
