This blog is about using the Internet to help business and individuals to market themselves efficiently not in an intrusive way through interuption marketing but engaging other people and companies in conversations that build trust and relationships. Through my business career, where I have built companies from scratch, I have used marketing media such as mass media, with newspaper, TV, direct marketing ( letterboxing, fax broadcasting, and direct mail). I have also promoted via trade shows and spent ten’s of thousands of dollars for floor space and stands and got very little in return. I have also done countless hours of cold calling that were part and parcel of building a new and or existing business which has become less effective over time as call centers on the other side of the world try and interupt your life with ..the latest mobile phone offer. So with all this marketing clutter we are switching off and hanging up, literally.
I have realised that to break through all the noise and clutter that is the mainstay of most current marketing that there has to be better ways of engaging with people that is cost effective and beneficial and some of the terms that are used to describe this are Permission Marketing and Inbound Marketing and Relationship Marketing.
