FAQ
MemberHey everyone, my account has been growing lately and I’m starting to think more seriously about monetization. I keep seeing the prompt to switch to a Business Account, and I’m on the fence.
I’ve tried to research it, but I’m getting mixed signals. I know you get some extra features, like maybe an email in your profile or different analytics, but I’ve also heard a huge con is that you lose access to most of the popular, trending music.
Can anyone who’s made the switch confirm this? How big of a deal is the music limitation in reality? I’m just trying to weigh the pros and cons before I make a move I might regret. Thanks for any insight.

KeymasterUnderstanding this trade-off is critical for any creator looking to go professional.
The Core Difference: A Business Account gives you commercial tools like a website link in your bio, but in exchange, you lose access to the full library of popular and trending music.
Your decision should be based entirely on whether your content strategy relies on participating in mainstream music trends.
The most significant disadvantage of switching to a Business Account is the restriction on audio. You will be limited to TikTok’s Commercial Music Library, which contains royalty-free tracks that are safe for advertising but does not include the popular, chart-topping songs that drive most viral video trends. For many creators, this is a major creative and strategic limitation. Another key drawback is that Business Accounts are often ineligible for creator-specific monetisation tools like the Creativity Program Beta. In return for these limitations, you gain a suite of commercial features. The most valuable of these is the ability to place a clickable website link and an email address directly in your profile, which is essential for driving sales or leads. You also get access to more advanced analytics within the Business Suite to better analyse your performance. Ultimately, if you are a business that uses TikTok primarily to drive traffic to an external site and your content does not depend on popular music, the switch is beneficial. If your growth and income rely on viral trends and creator funds, you should stick with a Creator Account.
Cheers,
Jeff
