FAQ
MemberHey,
I’m looking at the official Giveaway feature in Telegram. I get how it works—you buy Premium subscriptions and the channel gives them away to random members—but I’m trying to figure out the best strategy for it.Is it just a blunt instrument for getting a quick spike in subscribers? Or is there a smarter way to use it?
For example, is it better to do one massive giveaway or several small ones? And does it actually lead to engaged, long-term members, or do you find they all just leave after the winners are announced? I’m trying to figure out if the ROI is there compared to just running traditional ads. What’s your experience been?

KeymasterSmart question, as this tool is often used poorly.
Short Answer: The feature itself is just a mechanism; a successful strategy involves wrapping the giveaway in a multi-format content campaign to maximize excitement and then retain the new members.
You must use your content formats to turn this simple lottery into an exciting community event.
Firstly, your announcement must be a high-impact visual, not just a plain text post. Create a high-quality image or a short, energetic video that clearly explains the prize, the number of winners, and the end date. This visual content is what will grab the initial attention. Secondly, you need to build anticipation leading up to the draw. Use a series of countdown images or post short, reminder text messages. You can also leverage interactive formats by running a text-based poll asking your members what they are most excited about. Thirdly, and most critically for retention, is the follow-up. Announce the winners using a personal format, such as a round video message or a congratulatory audio note, rather than a cold text list. Immediately after the giveaway concludes, you must post a piece of high-value content, like an exclusive video or a detailed text guide, to prove the channel’s worth to all the new members who may have only joined for the prize.
Cheers,
Jeff
