Hi Jeff, I just found you on Twitter recently and I enjoyed this article.  I especially like the last section where you mention that if you do not have the resources to build a blog, then create a FB Fan Page.  That is a great way to start.  It takes time to learn all of the technical stuff about being online.  Just get started wherever you can and have some fun.

Another potential option is to build your “blog” on Google+. I’m not a huge fan of this, but I’m seeing “normal” people do this and they are driving significant discussion (not just A-list folks with huge followings). The real time conversational nature of G+ and its very public nature make it a better place, in my view, to extend a conversation.

Facebook is great, but when it is the home behind someone’s twitter account, the flow of updates back and forth and mix of fully-public and quasi-public environments makes it an awkward transition still.

It is definitely good advice you present here for increasing your credibility. However, getting credibility for your blog them becomes the issue.  It will be difficult with just Twitter alone to validate your content.

It is definitely a good idea to get the facebook page, the blog AND the Twitter account going. If you are able, video blogs are also great and provide content for another social platform – You Tube.

So its great to be on Twitter and have a blog, but it really doesn’t stop there.

Thanks Joseph for your comments. The more places you can be visible on the better and this in itself build trust and credibility. Being seen everywhere is vital in a universe of 550 million websites!
