This is the first I have heard of revenue generating social sharing and find it pretty amazing. I’ll look forward to learning more about it and will definitely check out po.st. Thanks for sharing!

We actually put our social sharing buttons on the top AND the bottom of each article. Having the dual placement helps with sharing as it accommodates two different types of readers. There are those who skim the article and don’t bother to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page who can share via the buttons on the top. The other readers who read the entire article can share via the buttons at the bottom.

Great post, Jeff! This is a very interesting concept, mate! I will surely give it a try. At the moment we’re using top and bottom sharing buttons at Social Media Revolver and they do seem to be getting reasonable clicks. I’ll change it to the side panel as yours and we;’ll see how that makes a difference.

The only thing that bothers me is that your buttons open up a new tab, which takes the readers away from your page. Perhaps it can be fixed in the settings?
