Jeff, great article. I like #1 “It needs to be perfect” most people get stumped right here. You have to push through and just start doing it.

I like the phrase “just ship it”

Blogging is fun. A good stress reliever. A way to “express yourself.” And when you have enough content, publish your blog in a book.

Great to hear Tiffany that you feel inspired to take some action. :)

Most important takeaway for me (already blogging)—”The reality is that 5 times as many people read your headline as your article. You only have a few seconds on the web before they click away.”

    Rock on, Jeff!

I’m going to have to visit Emma’s channel. I draw chibis. :)

I think she would love some comments and a view or two. :)

The value of the podcast for SEO depends on whether it is on your blogs domain or not or if it has its own domain totally separate from your blog.

It is great to see Emma’s creativity. We are experiencing an explosion of creativity that is global and visible. I look forward to seeing more of this unfold.

That strategy is spot on! Creating transcripts is a great way of leveraging the podcast into a new piece of keyword rich content that Google will gobble up.

Love that I came across this blog today in my Reader! We were just discussing our new strategy for blogging and putting together an editorial calender. We over think blogging sometimes when it really is simple and most people enjoy a simple read. Thanks Jeff!

I’m a new fan of Emma’s! Thanks for sharing this :) I’m trying to figure out the fine balance of being “personal” in my blog posts but not exposing myself too much. It’s a fine art!

  • Anthony Baisi

This was a great read, Emma’s story is inspiring to a new blogger like myself. I’m also trying to get my girlfriend into it because she, like Emma just likes to be creative.
    Thanks, Jeff!

Many writers think that marketing is beneath them. Successful authors
and bloggers understand that increased awareness and traffic means more
money and the freedom to create without the fear of unpaid bills and
eviction. If you just have a bit of an idea don’t agonize over the design or the logo just begin “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic, and power in it. Begin it now.” – William Murray, Scottish mountaineer and adventure.

The one thing I have learnt in the last 6 months of blogging is write for the reader and not for SEO. SEO is mainly off page. So include your keywords etc but not dont go over the top!!

  • Charles Blackert

If you gear your words towards the reader and make quality content your SEO will be so much better. I learned all of this from http://bigpayout.com/ who are SEO experts from Orem. It’s all about quality not quantity.
