    Thanks for sharing. Your list is a great top 20 to take a good look at impact and reach. A key is to remember to monitoring results over time not just the day after posting. I have found referring back to previous posts as supporting material for newer ones helps too.

      Hi Kristel To get subscribers you can apply for a free Feedburner account to get people to subscribe either via RSS or email, and then load it into your WordPress blog. Then you can measure who is subscribing :)

    It’s a nice post. I do agree with you those you mentioned are critical areas where we need to monitor. Another thing which is equally important is where are those visitors coming from. Large chunk of visitors should organically come from search engine so we don’t have to spend much time twitting our posts. Just sharing.

    Great list. It’s important that people know the metrics to measure their social media success.

    That said, the metrics are different from every individual or company based on their objectives and how they define success. For some, you can use hard metrics such as RSS subscribers, RTs, etc., while other metrics are “soft” such as improved customer service or a stronger brand.

    I would add “# of shares”. To me, sharing content is the highest rating for measuring good content. There’s somewhat of a progressive system from rating to commenting to sharing. The level of interaction is proportionate to their interest in the content.

    for youtube…isn’t number of viewers and quantity of comments measuring the samething? I think it’s better to calculate how many views per month it or something. Looking at the rate of exposure tells you more about the media, tells you if it has viral potential.

    I would add ‘talking about this’ into the mix. It’s possible to have thousands of likes and no activity/engagement a Facebook page. Pointless

    As social media is constantly evolving, this list will alter but it looks like a great starting point. Kathryn’s suggestion of monitoring imagery is something which I think will become more prominent in the near future as more and more businesses are joining every social network possible to keep up with the latest trends.
