This is awesome.  I’ve been talking a lot about the CEOs vs. Social Media battle with others, and can’t wait to dig into all this great material.  Thanks so much for putting it all together!

Thanks for the comment. That is a good question and I don’t know the answer to that. You have made a valid point though.

Yes a valid question but I would guess that if there is a sale that justifies a 45k cost of lead, the yellow pages isn’t going to be where you of spend that :)

    Interesting article Jeff.

I’m REALLY fortunate that The Boss is a fan of social media for two things: one, that I have a job because of it, and two because then it’s never difficult to propose social media-related ideas!

This article highlights something I’ve faced as a Marketing Manager. Business happy to sign off thousands on print or display advertising, yet the suggestion to invest the same money in targeted digital advertising seems ludicrous (even though the ROI is easily recorded).

I think it is a matter of educating internally, and starting small to prove what works for the business. Spending the $X,000 on a Yellow Pages ad that returns nothing sometimes has to happen to convince people not to do it again, sadly. Just make sure (if you are the Marketing Manager) that you state your disagreement with it first!
